Concord 101 is an educational experience for citizens of Concord. You'll enjoy learning more about your local government and the services it provides.
We hope to help members of the community better understand how these services work for them.
Additionally, members will be encouraged to take an active role in their neighborhood and city. You will learn how you can play a part in local government.
The relaxed setting will make learning about our city fun and exciting!
Student Central
Concord 101 will begin this September.
The class is free to citizens of Concord, 18 years and up.
The course will meet weekly for 13 weeks.
Students are allowed to miss 2 classes and still graduate the course.
Students must also attend a City Council meeting.
Applications are due August 10, 2010 for classes beginning September 2010 so don't be late!
Course Description
Curious as to how the name "Harmony" came about?
Ever wonder just how many water lines supply Concord?
How many dump trucks does the city have?
Every class is packed with activities and information. Classes will be interactive with opportunities to ask questions and give feedback.
Students will tour city facilities and view equipment used by various departments in their specialized fields. Students will meet representatives from every city department including: water, sewer,
police, fire, parks and recreation, airport, and many more.
The Academy will meet every Tuesday beginning in September and end with a graduation ceremony in late November or early December. Class will take place from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M.
